How to find the best DWI attorney

A DWI offense stands for "Driving While Intoxicated".
Guilt is typically established through one of 3 methods:
1. Driving symptoms like swerving and weaving
2. Field sobriety tests like a breathalyzer or saying the alphabet backwards
3. A police officer's subjective opinion in the field - increasingly uncommon
In all 50 U.S. states, the legal limit for a DWI is a blood alcohol concentration of below 0.08%. Anything above that is considered a serious DUI offense.
The technical term for this is BAC - blood alcohol content. Did you know that it was a London taxi driver who was first convicted of drunk driving?
If you're under 21 - most states have a zero tolerance policy - this means your license will be suspended if ANY alcohol (even 0.01%) is detected on your breath.
DWI defense attorneys play a central role in this legal process and can be very expensive.
Typically fines are at least $1000 for the first offense plus probation, 30 days jail for the second offense, and 120 days jail for the third offense.
For instance, Texas DUI defense attorneys can help reduce those fines, decrease jail time, and often eliminate the entire penalty.
DWI attorneys can do this in 3 ways:
1. Establishing that you drove a VERY short distance
2. You unintentionally drank the alcohol (spiked)
3. It was an emergency (someone dying or giving birth)
That's why DWI defense attorneys - particularly in large, penalty-rich states like Texas and Florida, can be incredibly expensive. As an example, a Los Angeles DWI defense attorney can cost several thousand dollars in fees - and this is even worse in places like San Diego and Austin.
Synonyms for DWI include OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) and DUI (Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol). While the terms can be confusing - DWI defense attorneys, DUI defense attorneys, OWI defense attorneys - they all do exactly the same thing.
In California - drivers may be charged with a felony if MALICE is demonstrated - which is why if you're in San Diego, a local DWI defense attorney is critical to help you avoid serious criminal charges.

What a cool hub and what great advice here! Thanks for this! I have never had an accident that I caused but I had some motorists crash into the back of my lovely car. One guy was totally drunk and he got in his car and drove off when I asked was he drinking while driving? LOL! Good job I was fully insured! Cheers!
